Locations can be added to any existing Location (Parent Location) using the following methods:
- As a new Location for an existing Category.
- From an existing Location as a new Child Location with a new Category.
New Location for an existing Category
This method will add a new Category Location with a Parent Location you enter, using the existing Category for that new Location.
To add a Category Location using this method:
- From the Location front view of an existing Location using the Category required, click on the Category Name.
- Select the Locations tab in the Details view.
- If the criteria for using that Category is met (see Criteria below), the Add Location button will be shown.
- If the criteria is NOT met (see Criteria below), hovering over the Information Icon will give a description of why.
- Click on the Add Location button to add a Location for this Category
- You will be asked to provide the required Parent Location ID you want to use for the new Location.
- If the criteria is met, the new Location will be added with a default Location Name of the Parent Location's Category Name (not Display Name).
- The new Location will have all other default field values set (see Fields), and have a blank Logo Image.
- The Location can then be edited and changed as required. e.g. To set the Logo Image or change the Location Name.
Criteria
The following criteria must be met before adding a new Location for an existing Category.
- The Category must be in an Active state.
- The Location Lock must not be set (check unmarked).
- If you are not the Owner of the Category, Location Add Public must be set (check marked).
- The Location Limit must not have been reached.
The following Parent Location criteria must be met when adding a new Location for an existing Category.
- The Parent Location must exist!
- No current Child Location must currently exist at that Location using the current Category (VERIFY or change) .
- The Parent Location must be in an Active state.
- The Child Location Lock of the Parent Location must not be set (check unmarked).
- If you are not the Owner of the Parent Location, the Child Location Add Public of the Parent Location must be set (check marked).
- The Child Location Limit of the Parent Location must not have been reached.
Existing Location as a Child Location
This method will add a new Category Location as a Child Location to the current Location, along with a new category to be used by that Location.
To add a Category Location using this method:
- From the Location front view of an existing Location, click on the Location Name.
- Select the Child Locations tab in the Details view.
- If the criteria for adding a new Child Location (see Criteria below) is met, the Add Category button will be shown.
- If the criteria is NOT met (see Criteria below), hovering over the Information Icon will give a description of why.
- Click on the Add Category button to add a new Category Location with a new Category.
- You will be asked to provide an initial set of information for the new Category. Category name is a required field, others are optional.
- By Default, the new Location will be given the Location Name of the current Location, which will be the Parent Location for the new Location. This can be changed during this add process.
- The new Category and category Location will have all other default field values set (see Fields for Categories and Locations), and have a blank Images for both Category and Location.
- The new Category and Location can then be edited and changed as required. e.g. To set the Logo Image or Icon Image.
Criteria
The following current Location criteria must be met when adding a new Child Location with a new Category.
- The Location must be in an Active state.
- The Child Location Lock must not be set (check unmarked).
- If you are not the Owner of the current Location, the Child Location Add Public must be set (check marked).
- The Child Location Limit must not have been reached.
