Whenever I go shopping with my spouse or kids, I often end up waiting outside changing rooms, whilst they try on clothes etc.. Not much to do while you wait, usually in an area where there is nothing around of interest. e.g. With my wife, I am surrounded by women's clothes etc. They often do have places to sit, some more comfortable than others, so there is already an expectation or acknowledgment that some waits could be lengthier than others!
Why don't stores take advantage of this opportunity, and have either advertising (video screens or literature) or displays of goods that a waiting shopper may browse and potentially buy.
e.g. Outside the changing rooms in clothing areas, why not have a small display of goods that may interest a waiting spouse.
